Hey all ~ I've been in Real Estate investment and sales in Boulder County for over 10 years now and just love it! But besides helping people buy and sell homes with Ryan and Kevin at Fetch Realty, I'm the editor of a power tool blog called Toologics.com. We write news and reviews on any and all power tools that we can get our hands on.

A little bit about Blog Cabin:
DIY Network's Blog Cabin is the first ever interactive home-building television series, putting bloggers in control of the design and construction of a waterfront vacation home.   Blog Cabin is returning for its second season on 8/14.
 
Beginning in January of 2008, DIY Network.com invited visitors to vote each day on various aspects of the cabin –while maintaining an ongoing interactive dialogue through DIY Network's blog, millions logged on to vote on over 40 different design features, from the floor plan to the lighting to the paint colors in each room.   DIY Network's expert hosts took the blogger suggestions and constructed the house based on the blogger's specs, and the results will be revealed in this season's Blog Cabin.  DIY viewers can watch the "blog cabin" take shape next month (beginning August 14th) as well as enter online for a chance to win the blog cabin.

All too frequently, homesellers' opinions of their properties are clouded by sentimentality. Every parent thinks his or her children are extraordinarily gifted beings, and in a similar way, most families believe their homes are worth a great deal more than the average. It's only natural--couples remember the particular spot in the living room where their first-born took his first step, or the outrageous the bill they received after having the plumbing overhauled, and they assume it all should show up in the sales price. GETTING READY TO put your house on the market? Before you do, you'll have to decide whether you want to hire a full-service broker, work with a discount broker or sell the place on your own. It's not an easy decision — there are advantages and disadvantages to each method.

A traditional broker, for example, will present you with a complete marketing plan and expose your home to as many buyers as possible. You could, however, save yourself thousands of dollars by selling your property on your own. But some would argue that the headache isn't worth it.

Avoid a Canine Custody Battle

Like many caring dog owners, Stanley and Linda Perkins of San Diego, Calif., dote on their pointer-greyhound mix, Gigi. But in the late ‘90s when the couple decided to split, a two-year canine custody battled ensued, racking up thousands of dollars in legal fees and taking up almost half of the three-day divorce trial.

In an effort to clinch the case for her client, Sandra Morris, a family law attorney representing Mrs. Perkins, decided to use a tactic that worked in several successful child custody cases. Morris shot a day-in-the-life video of Gigi, showing the adopted pooch going for walks, sleeping under the desk and playing on the beach. It worked. Bargain hunters boost home sales in some markets

Home prices are sinking. Banks are seizing properties from owners who can't pay their mortgages. Yet for Amber Gilmore, the miserable housing market has never looked better.

After searching for a home for more than a year, Gilmore and her fiancé found one in foreclosure. Once the bank cut the asking price by more than $100,000, the first-time home buyers eagerly sealed the deal for $230,000.

Close to Home: Boulder, Colo., stays healthy

U.S. 36 corridor holds breath for mystery buyer's identity

Use of StorageTek site could boost office market's recovery

If the mystery buyer of the former StorageTek site in Louisville brings the thousands of jobs many people are anticipating, it could spark an explosion of construction and new businesses in a market that only recently started recovering from the dot-com meltdown.

The ripple effect would be tremendous on the 7-million-square-foot submarket along U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder. The office market there saw vacancy rates swell from 2 percent to 42 percent after the dot-com bomb in 2001.

Stimulus plan also sparks housing market

Dogs now allowed on qualifying cafe patios in metro area

Interest rates slashed to help economy
